Texans Fans Should Want West Virginia to Win the NCAA Championship

Fans of the Houston Texans should be paying a little bit of attention to rooting for West Virginia to win the NCAA tournament. At least this is a theory of mine.

Why?

Steve Slaton is a West Virginia Mountaineer. I have full believe that a strong percentage of Slaton's fumbling problem last year was due to confidence issues. The good thing is that his confidence has been improving. The Texans know this, which is why I believe they didn't make any plays for free-agent backs like Ladanian Tomlinson or Thomas Jones.

Will Slaton be back to his rookie year form? Who knows, but I bet he is in much better form than he was last year. Kubiak is excellent at making players feel like they are in control of their own destiny within the football team as well as making them feel like he has full confidence in them. This helps them grow and live up to their potential. Matt Schaub was a case in point.

So by Kubiak not making a play for anyone to come in and take over the running back position, Slaton's confidence is growing. On top of that, his Twitter account is littered with Tweets about how great off-season work outs are going and....how excited he is about the West Virginia Mountaineers rocking the NCAA tournament.

It's human nature to let things we are a fan of play into our own lives. When the Texans are winning, it makes me push harder at the Gym or on Madden Football. By that theory, I think West Virginia winning the NCAA tourny will get Slaton even more pumped as he focuses and grows this off-season.

I'm not a psychologist or doctor. I just have theories. And this theory has me saying, GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!
