Two weeks of doing the Madden Preview for Texans games has proven one thing: it's not really accurate. First, it was wrong about the Cowboys game and then it was wrong again about last weeks game against the Raiders. 0-2 so far in predicting the outcomes of games, I sure hope that the Madden 2011 Preview of the Giants at the Texans will be wrong as well.
Roster notes: The updated roster has Cushing back and he starts off with a bang by sacking Eli Manning early in the 1st Quarter. Andre Johnson, Ahmad Bradshaw, Mario Williams and Jacoby all end up playing in the Madden Preview, but are facing the potential of not playing in the real match-up.
The game certainly gets off to a great start as the Texans jump to a 14-0 lead. Like we've seen in real games over the past few weeks, though, they quickly let the Giants back into the game who tie it at 21 going into Halftime. During the second half, the lead changes hands a couple of times, but in the end - the Texans fall short by 4 points.
Overall the Texans offense looked great in this game. Although he was sacked 6 times and threw 3 interceptions, Schaub was able to put up 332 yards and 2 scores. He narrowly missed getting the win, when a potentially last minute, game-winning drive was cut short by a sack at the Giants 1 yard line.
The defense started off the game on fire forcing the Giants to punt and getting an interception on the first to Giants drives. As the game went on, however, the secondary began looking pathetic, blowing coverage and giving up several long balls. The biggest culprit of getting burned was Eugene Wilson - who got beat on 3 Giants Touchdown passes. (This is a sign, Kubiak. Start Troy Nolan! PLEASE!)
Foster was true to his form pounding out 123 yards on the ground and a score. We should see him get close to that in the real game and he will continue to lead the league in rushing after week 5.
I do have a feeling that in real life, the Texans will be able to pull this one off. The real matchup has the potential to be very different from the outcome of the game due to the possibility of Bradshaw, Johnson and Jones not playing. I'm 99.9% sure we will see Mario Williams play despite his sudden groin injury.
