Player Spotlight: Karl Paymah

This week's Texans Player Spotlight highlights one of the Texans more recent acquisitions and someone that hopefully we are going to see more of this week against the Chiefs. Cornerback Karl Paymah was picked up just a few weeks ago and has been learning the system (although it doesn't look like there is much to learn other than how to get burned).

Paymah does bring with him a little experience, so perhaps once he starts playing...it'll be one of the elements that the Texans defense is needing. Let's take a look at his details.

Karl Paymah - CB #24

- Height: 6-0 Weight: 195 Age: 27
- Born: 11/29/1982 in Boston , MA
- College: Washington State
- Experience: 5 Seasons
- Other Teams: Vikings and Broncos, was also briefly in 49ers camp this year;
- Draft Status: 2005 - Round 3, Pick 76
- Career Accomplishments & Awards: In 3 starts for the Broncos in 2007, Paymah recorded 2 interceptions and 22 tackles - not incredible statistics considering he played in 15 games, but most of those came in the 3 that he started which is pretty strong.
- Strength: Paymah is a fast corner/nickel back who brings more experience to the secondary than the current starters do; can play the nickel spot as well as the corner.
- Weakness: Although he has experience, he still doesn't bring the "veteran" presence that the Texans secondary so desperately needs; does lack a little against the run
- Trivia & Notes: Went to Culver City High School in California where he was a two letter athlete in both Football and Track. In Football he played both corner and wide receiver, but earned All-Ocean Honors as a CB. At Washington State he was Honorable Mention All Pac-10 at corner in 2004

I don't know that Paymah is the total answer for the Texans, but right now he may be the only one they have...
