Today is one of those days that I am just pissed off. Some snarky comments at work. Forget something at home. People using the microwave when you want it. Then, to top it all off, when you search Wikipedia for "Houston Oilers", it redirects you to the Tennessee Titans page.
Just makes you throw up a little in your mouth.
Why didn't they leave us the history? When they ripped away our team, did they have to legally make it so all of those good times and bad were a part of Tennessee? Earl Campbell never played a down of professional football in Tennessee. Ernest Givins never did the electric slide in Nashville. No 40 year old Tennessean can tell stories of going to see pro football games in his home town, unless he moved from somewhere that had a team. So why did they have to take our history AND our team. I'm sure I've heard the reasons before, but they never stuck with me. They were probably wrapped in 16oo pages of legal documents. But whatever reasons they are, they suck. And I won't stand for them.
If you search for the Cleveland Browns, they get to claim Jim Brown, Bernie Kosar and all of the pain and agony that goes with it. The Baltimore Ravens' history starts in 1996. I know its the standard (Colts have history from Baltimore and Indy, Rams have history from LA and St. Louis, etc), but why does it have to be that way? Its not right!!! Because a lot of Scots moved over ere, do we get to claim William Wallace as part of the US's history? No!! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!!
And I will not rest until we, as Houstonians, have made our plea and done all we can to get the history of the Oilers back in Houston. Be back after I get a sandwich.
OK. Now, I'm going to go off and email some people to get the ball rolling. This is just the beginning...
