The Texans once again played a tremendous half of football. And that's the problem. Because that's all. The other isn't a decent half. Not a slow other half. Its a bad other half. And its nearly impossible to win under those circumstances. They pulled it out against the Redskins who recently were so happy with their starting QB, they stuck in Rex Grossman for the last series against the Lions a few weeks ago. They nearly pulled this one out against a clearly weaker Jaguars team.
When the Texans decided to start trying, they came out and ran up and down the field against Jacksonville. They scored 21 second half points with ease. Minus two (somewhat fluky) long pass plays, the defense stepped up and shut down MJD and Garrard. We were driving for a game winning field goal with 30 seconds left. All of that sounds like a winning formula. But that sorry first half, in combination with a once-in-a-decade play left the Texans with a loss that seemed all too familiar.
We've seen what the Texas are capable of. They are capable of scoring at will. They are capable of stopping QBs like Bruce Gradkowski. Or at least slowing them down. The frustrating thing is that they don't. Most of the time they come out flat and have to work their way back into a game. Owner Bob McNair said it wasn't Kubiak's fault that balls were dropped. It wasn't Kubiak's fault Dressen fumbled at the end. It wasn't Kubiak's fault that Glover Quin spiked the ball in the one place he shouldn't have. And while that is debatable, it isn't just those things that lost the five games for us we lost. Its been the lack of enthusiasm from the opening tip that has doomed them. If they had started out strong, they wouldn't have had to come back against Jacksonville. And that's on Kubiak for not getting that sense of urgency in them from the opening kickoff. Its not Kubiak for not gameplanning well enough to start out strong. Or, in the case of San Diego, failing to stick with his game plan in the second half when it worked so well in the first half. Its on Kubiak for the Texans only showing up for one half a game.
So, for all of those half played games, those half coached players and those half met expectations, Kubiak shall forever be known as "Half-Assed" Kubiak. It has a ring to it. Try it out.
I would personally prefer to call him gone! To the point I have found a lovely web site that allows like minded people as myself to gear up in preparation for the next home game. You simply have to take a look at this... Who knows, maybe half ass would make a good shirt too!

I Just think "Half Assed" Kubiak just rolls off the tongue. I am all in on the fire Gary Kubiak camp. I think he folds against the bully teams. I think he fails to get his team up or prepared properly (forcing all of those crazy comebacks.) I think he displays a total lack of leadership. This team is too talented to be in this situation.
