I am absolutely sick of defending Gary Kubiak. Either his play calling is atrocious or Matt Schaub's ability to make an adjustment is atrocious. On Monday night against the Colts, one of those two issues was the peril of the Houston Texans and I am absolutely sick of it.
During the first half, when the game was actually close, the Texans were acting desperate and going to the pass on 1st and 2nd down. They were passing when Arian Foster had been averaging 6.0 yards per carry every time he was able to touch the ball. Whether this was disgusting play calling by Kubiak or Schaub's idiotict inability to read a defense and make the correct adjustment, I don't know, but it is a pathetic display of ability and knowledge for the game of football.
When you're playing against the Colts you HAVE to play the clock because they're constantly going to score. But for whatever reason, these guys refuse to do it. Either Kubiak or Schaub starts jacking up passes to covered receivers early in the first half and screw themselves (for the lack of a better term). They fall behind and then come out of halftime down by more than two scores and have no option, but to try and jack up more passes.
It's moronic and amateur at best.
I'd prefer never passing and only running with Foster and Ward if it would get better results - and honestly I think it would. In the game against the Colts on Monday night if the Texans had stuck with the run early in the game, I guarantee that they would have had a better chance of winning. For one, Schaub would never have thrown that idiotic, dolt decision of a pass he threw in the second quarter that went pick 6 to someone that was no better than a college number 2 safety.
Fans like me, who often defend Kubiak, wonder why so many people are against him. It's games like this pathetic piece of sh*% of a game that show us that you should never be given the reigns to anything. Ugh.
P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C. That's all I have to say to Kubiak, Schaub and YOU - Bernard Pollard. No wonder you were released from the Chiefs. You couldn't cover your own clothes if you were wearing them.
Kubiak - if things don't improve you need to give up your job and become a GM or QB coach. You're excellent at building a team, but you are proving to be an absolute terrible play caller. I think I speak for all fans when I say, "Learn to call some plays or get the hell off the field." Foster ran all over the Colts in the first game and was doing so again when you let him run in the first half, but you still tried to force pass plays anyway.
What a joke, Kubiak. What a joke.
