Since in the 2010 season the Texans have given the fans about 1 Quarter of passionate, non-flat football in each of their games and Bob McNair seems reluctant to replace Head Coach Gary Kubiak, I have come up with an idea of how the fans can get the Texans back in 2011 (if there is actually a season).
It just isn't fair to us fans that the team that we live and die for can play so lackluster and get away with it without any sort of repercussion. Let's be honest, no matter how bad they are, Houston is a big enough city and there are enough people who will go to games that threatening to not buy tickets isn't an option.
So I say this:
Until the Texans start showing fire for entire football games and show the ability to win games, fans should give them what they give us. When we go to games we should sit silently and barely paying attention through the first, second and end of the fourth quarter. We should only pay attention and cheer (or boo) during the 3rd Quarter and the beginning of the 4th. Even more accurate would be for us to get up and walk out of the stadium with 6 minutes remaining no matter what the score is.
We could even consider cheering in short spurts during the 4th quarter to give the players hope that they will have fans cheering for them, but only to take it away with silence like they did so many times with chances to win the game.
It's not about punishing the Texans. It's about showing them how they make us feel with their inability to play fired up.
