The Colts, who have been the dominant force in the AFC South for the last decade, allowed Kerry Collins to have 3 touchdowns. We held him to 2. My advisor told me that shows without a doubt we're on the right track. How many other teams can say they're 50% better than the Colts?
Need more proof? Well, in 2009, Chris Johnson rushed for 151 and 197 yards against us in our two games against them. Yesterday... a pedestrian 130 yards. That's an amazing 44 yards less than his AVERAGE against us from last year! I asked my caterer if he thought that was progress and he said without a doubt "yes"!
Still, I see a TON of you skeptics out there. All of the Chronicle writers. All of the ESPN writers. All of the Chronicle and ESPN readers. Bill Simmons. They all ask how on Earth Gary could keep his job after this. They say his teams show no fight. Well right before half we showed so much fight, we done fought with ourselves when Cushing and Antonio Smith nearly fought right there on the field. Sure it resulted in a penalty, but I will never get mad at someone for showing passion on the field, no matter how stupid. I asked my gardener if he thought the Texans were on the right course, he said no. I then showed him that 20 minutes in the second half of the Ravens game and threatened to have him deported and I converted him into a believer.
That's the thing with hope. You have to find it where you can. It may be so deeply hidden under layers of Texan Bull manure that you have to dig. You have to ignore every bad first half. Every stupid play call. Every pigheaded display of stubbornness and refusal to adjust for the team deficiencies. Then, you can boil it all down to one play. You can find one play that went really well and was really innovative to let you know... we're headed in the right direction.
Sure even Carolina and Arizona can find one play or quarter to let them know they're on the right path, but I'm not the owner of those teams. I own the Texans. And I can find the silver lining in the most dire and sad situations. Looking forward to bringing back Gary for another shot at .500!!
wahaha. I dont think Bob could've actually said it better himself!
